Viewpoint

Sitting listening to the rain beat down the other day, I decided to take some photos of the garden from inside.

The quality is not as good as being out there, of course, but it was good to see how it looked without getting caught up in the 'close-up' - seeing things that you automatically block out.  Though I quite like the seedlings sitting atop a couple of upturned wooden crates.

Please let it dry up long enough for me to plant up a couple  (or three) new perennials from Stanton nursery.

Sometimes, it's just what you need

There have been a few wobbly moments in the past couple of weeks - nothing major, but enough to make me stop and think about what is going wrong.

A serious lack of being outside, working is one of the causes I know.

But there are other things too; mostly in my own head it has to be said.

A camera is always a good help - I read something similar on another blog just a couple of days ago - and these pictures are the result.

The truth is, it's just good to get outside and breathe fresh air, and maybe I just need to remind myself that I actually need to do that to stay sane.

Not a great hardship, but one I regularly seem to forget.

Flowers to come home to:

After a wonderful few days away (the Lakes - with perfect weather) it was so very good to see the garden had fully come alive.

Some of these flowers came home with us, including the gorgeous pot of pink-tinged daffodils, and the dark red primula.

But others are stalwarts of this garden; they surprise each year with their bright blooms and remind me of the joy of gardening.

And I've needed that lately.

Sunshine on a Spring garden - perfect.

A gentle day

It's always good to stop sometimes; to just take a moment to consider.  This type of day wasn't planned, just seemed to happen upon me.  It began with a reply to an e-card sent this morning, and carried on with the house all to myself until lunch time.  The weather definitely helped - it being one of those calm, hushed days outside.  Are we all taking a pause?  By 'we' I do mean me and the birds and the builders and the dogs and the babies - all those of us who normally create sound in my garden.  Thankfully not all at the same time, nor are they actually all in the garden together.  Just kind of there. Instead there was just me, the camera and the stillness:
